One of the things I love doing most is commemorative cushions. I love making these as I know they will provide someone who has lost their beloved friend something to hug but they always make me feel a little sad too because I can understand what they have lost.
Hug your fur babies tight and tell them you love them often xxx
Firstly, we like to talk to you, often you will be a friend of the person who has lost the pet, as we find a lot of commemorative cushions are gifted by friends or family of those who have lost a furry friend, rather than the person themselves, so here are a few tips to help you come prepared...
What did the furry firend look like? Pictures are really helpful as I design from scratch and a couple of good pictures can be very helpful!
Where is the cushion going to go, and what colours does it need to match? This often helps us agree on a background colour for our cushions.
Do you want an embroidered paw on the back of the cushion, if so what name do you want embroidered on it if any
From there I can go away and come back to you with pictures of potential fabrics and colours, and sketch artwork like the hand drawn cat to the right.
Once we have agreed on all that I can get on with the make... This can be quiet time consuming as each piece of the pattern is unique and hand cut before I applique it onto the cushion itself.
